ABSTRACT
The research objective was: to investigate the doctor’s perception about multidisciplinary work, in the care of patients with asthma. In this research took part 1475 general doctors and specialists. It was used an instrument Likert of 30 items, divided in three aspects: 1) asthma knowledge in pathophysiology, diagnosis, epidemiology, and risk factors; 2) pharmacological treatment; 3) no pharmacological treatment, and doctor’s perception about usefulness and contributions of another professionals. The results show that both doctor groups, don’t know how to care the patient appropriately neither in pharmacological aspects in the integral care, However there are differences between both groups: general doctors have less knowledge about asthma, but perceive more advantage in integral patient care, on the other hand the specialist doctors in spite of having more knowledge about asthma, show less acceptance for the multidisciplinary work. There were found significant differences between general and specialist doctors, in the instrument items related to the CAAP’s collaboration (χ2=8.002;p ‹ 0.01), pulmonary physiotherapy (χ2=13.906;p ‹ 0.05), psychologists (χ2=14.724;P ‹ 0.01) and pulmonologists (χ2=7.333;p ‹ 0.01). These results will allow managing future education programs for professionals of health.
