ABSTRACT
This investigation explored whether there is a significant correlation between spiritual wellbeing, optimism, self-efficacy and organizational citizenship in a sample of 278 public employees of Puerto Rico. Five scales were administered; one to collect the socio-demographic data and the others correspond to the variables studied. The study was non-experimental and cross-sectional exploratory design. Results revealed that there is a positive and significant relationship between all the variables with the correlation between spiritual wellbeing and organizational citizenship as the leading one. Multiple regression analysis revealed that the spiritual well-being, optimism and selfefficacy accounted for 19 % of the employee organizational citizenship. Despite the limitations and obstacles that employees may face in the workplace, the perceived levels of self-efficacy, optimism and specifically spiritual wellbeing, contribute them significantly to continue performing their tasks with great responsibility, honesty and without expecting anything in return when deemed. The theoretical and practical impact of these findings for psychology in the workplace is discussed.
