ABSTRACT
Dental implants have shown to be an excellent alternative in the replacement of lost dental organs, however sometimes implants placement can be hindered due to inadequate dimensions of the edentulous ridge. It is noteworthy that the vestibular cortical is thinner than the palatine and therefore suffer more resorption with losses of up to 50% during the first six months. The combination of the techniques, guided bone regeneration and expansion of the alveolar ridge, could improve horizontally bone morphology, for the placement of dental implants. The aim of this case report was to describe the horizontally increase of alveolar ridge with maxillary crest expansion technique «ridge split», coupled with guided bone re-generation and implant placement, eight months after the procedure.
