Gastroduodenal ulcer in the 'Dr Agostinho Neto' Hospital Guantanamo. 10-year study

ABSTRACT
Introduction: peptic ulcer in normal circumstances can be easily diagnosed and treated, but drilling is an abdominal catastrophe that endangers the life. Objective: Characterize the behavior of the surgical treatment of perforated gastroduodenal peptic ulcer from January 2001 to December 2010 inclusive. Methods: A descriptive and retrospective study was conducted in Dr. Agostinho Neto Hospital Guantanamo, 210 medical records of patients who were attended in emergency surgery for perforated peptic ulcer. Variables were collected: age, sex, location of drilling, toxic habits, occupational profile, employees surgical procedures, postoperative complications and direct cause of the deaths. Results: predominant age group of 40-59 years, male gender, duodenal perforations were the most frequent, smoking, drinking coffee and alcohol predominant toxic habits were considered in patients the surgical procedure most often used suture epiploplasty. Bronconruminia and surgical wound sepsis were the most frequent complications. Conclusions: Patients treated by gastroduodenal perforated ulcer males, aged 40 years old consumers of coffee, snuff, alcohol, and surgical treatment was suture and epiploplasty.REFERENCES
