ABSTRACT
Purpose: Retrospective study to present results of laser in situ queratomileusis (LASIK) after radial keratotomy (RK).
Material and methods: 21 eyes of 12 patients underwent LASIK for residual or induced refractive defects after RK. The eyes were divided into 2 groups: 13 myopic eyes and 8 hyperopic eyes. The follow-up was 6 months.
Results: After LASIK , there was a significant decrease in the spherical equivalent in both groups. Forty percent of myopic eyes and 50% in the hyperopic group were within ±1.0 D of emetropia. Uncorrected visual acuity was 20/40 or better in 76% myopic group and 62% hyperopic group.
Conclusions: LASIK is a safe and effective treatment for residual or induced refractive defects after RK.
