ABSTRACT
A cross-sectional study was carried out in pregnant women and postpartum women admitted to the Intensive Care Unit. This was done to review the records of income, medical records and archived documents with the objective of characterizing severe maternal morbidity in the intensive care service at the General Teaching Hospital "Dr. Agostinho Neto ", Guantanamo from January to June 2015. The universe consisted of all patients admitted (44). The predominance of the group of 25 to 29 years old was found, followed by the group of 20 to 24 years, 15 patients received assisted ventilation and diagnosed infections associated with health care. There was balance with regard to the pathologies associated with pregnancy and postoperative complications as causes of admission. Most of them went to other services to complete their treatment. Although the stay in the service is short and the index of sepsis in general is low some patients became infected, affecting their quality of life.REFERENCES
