Vulvitis circumscripta plasmacellularis. A case report

ABSTRACT

Zoon’s vulvitis is a benign entity described by Garnier in 1954. Its precise incidence is unknown, as well as its etiopathogenesis, although a variety of triggering factors have been suspected such as chronic infections, excessive sweating, poor hygiene, and trauma. We present the clinical case of a 67-year-old patient with a diagnosis of vulvitis circumscripta plasmacellularis (Zoon’s). The case is presented because of its low frequency and good response with topical clobetasol. The histopathology is important for diagnosis; a differential diagnosis is necessary with other entities such as STDs, dermatological and systemic diseases (SLE, Crohn’s disease, Behçet), and even precancerous lesions or carcinomas.
