Infective endocarditis in childhood. A new case report

ABSTRACT

A 13-year-old female patient, initially presenting with febrile illness, vomiting and headache, followed by neurological alterations with cerebrospinal fluid studies suggesting infectious processes at this level, organic blasts, and isolation in 2 blood cultures of staphylococcus aureus, as well as Echocardiogram with presence of vegetation at the level of the mitral valve, diagnosing bacterial infective endocarditis according to Duke criteria, with a neurological presentation. Antimicrobial treatment is performed with glycopeptides and aminoglycosides. A mitral regurgitation is a sequel.
