ABSTRACT
Introduction. In dentistry, local anesthetics are the safest and effective for the management of pain associated with dental treatment method. Objective. To compore the frequency ond intensity of introoperotive poin coused by dental extroctions using different periods of onesthetic effect of 7 or 14 minutes of lidocoine (1: 1 00,000). Materials and methods. Clinicol And randomized experimental study. Seventy nine potients apparently healthy of both genders and with indication of tooth extraction were included. The frequency and intensity of intraoperotive pain experienced by patients during dental extroctions conventionol with periods onesthetic effect of seven minutes (n=42) or 14 minutes (n=37) using lidoccine (1 00 000 1) wcs recorded. The meosurements were performed with the pain visual cnclog sea le Heft-Parker. In cddition to pain associoted variables such os age, gender and number of roots theywere recordad. Results. No statistica lly sign ificant differences were found in introoperotive poin intensity between the different study groups (p › .05). Conclusions. Introoperotive pein expeñenced during dento 1 extroction is low frequency and intensity regord less of whether times onesthetic effect of 7 or 14 minutes used.
