Factors related to ectopic pregnancy

ABSTRACT
Introduction: ectopic pregnancy is a global health problem, it is considered in the world one of the main causes of maternal death, including developed countries.
Objectives: to determine factors related to ectopic pregnancy.
Method: descriptive study in the period from January 1, 1999 to September 30, 2007 at the Hospital Provincial "Carlos Manuel de Céspedes" University of Bayamo, Granma province.
Results: age, pelvic inflammatory disease and Douglas pouch puncture were related to this disease. Anemia and the tubal location were also related to the results.
Conclusions: the age of 20 to 40 years, pelvic inflammatory disease and Douglas pouch puncture were the factors that presented more regularly in relation to ectopic pregnancy, anemia was the most frequent complication with tubal location, and salpingectomy was the most commonly used surgical technique.
