ABSTRACT
Glaucoma can be defined as an irreversible chronic optic neuropathy characterized by specific death of the retinal ganglion cells, which is clinically detected with loss of nerve fiber layer and characteristic anatomical changes of the optic nerve with decreased visual field and may or may not be associated with an increase in intraocular pressure. During pregnancy, its course undergoes modifications, which can range from the decrease of the intraocular pressure, until its elevation, reason why a personalized evaluation in each case is needed. Therapeutic behavior is mediated by the risk-benefit/maternal fetal ratio. We report the case of a 21-year-old female patient with juvenile glaucoma who reaches pregnancy at the limit of control of her disease and achieves white intraocular pressure without treatment, only with the benefits of pathophysiological changes in the reduction of gestation. Glaucoma and pregnancy has managed to unify criteria, but still has challenges for the future.
