ABSTRACT
The effects of poor nutrition and obesity are considerate risk
factors to develop cervical cancer. However, this association
is not completely clear. The goal of this study was to evaluate
the relationship between the consumption of macronutrients
and body mass index (BMI) in preneoplastic cervical lesions.
This study used a transversal design and participate 44 women
between 19 and 86 year of age with the following characteristics:
18% without lesion, 41% with human papillomavirus
infection (HPV-I) and 41% with cervical intraepithelial
neoplastic (CIN-I). BMI and eating habits were also evaluated.
Results showed overweigh in patients with HPV-I, CIN-I and
without lesion. The consumption of fats was higher in women
with CIN-I compared without lesion cervix (p=0.023). In conclusion
the high consumption of fats and obesity might be
associated low-grade preneoplastic cervical lesions (CIN-I).
