Guillain-Barré syndrome as initial manifestation of systemic lupus erythematosus

ABSTRACT
Guillain-Barre syndrome is a unusual manifestation of systemic lupus erythematosus. We report the case of an 18-year-old man previously healthy who developed an acute polyradiculoneuropathy associated with hematological and renal activity of systemic lupus erythematosus. Immunoglobulin treatment was ineffective but patient improved with steroids and cyclophosphamide.
