ABSTRACT
Introduction: Teen pregnancy represents a health problem; it has been observed that there is an energetic commitment that
generates in the adolescent, low concentrations of progesterone, estradiol and leptin highs, which could cause health
problems during and after the childbirth. It has been discussed the role of cholesterol with vascular health during pregnancy
(especially the adolescent).
Objective: To study the behavior of fatty acids, leptin and diet during teen pregnancy
Methods:
Leptin concentrations, lipid and lipoprotein parameters were analyzed in 76 pregnant women in two groups according to
maternal age, 27 adolescent pregnant women (≥20) and 49 young pregnant women (≤20 to 28 years old), before and after
Birth.
Results: There are significant differences between adolescent and young cholesterol levels before delivery and a subsequent trend in fatty acid metabolism.
Conclusions: The data suggest that leptin has effects on the metabolism of
maternal lipids before and after delivery in adolescent metabolism, this is known, as leptin resistance syndrome, has a greater
association in the health of the mother and the breeding, causing cardiovascular risk due to peripheral resistance to insulin,
fed by a diet rich in fatty acids, high in carbohydrates and low in protein.
