Refractive changes in a patient with recent diagnosis of diabetes mellitus

ABSTRACT
The diabetes mellitus is associated with loss of quality of life, it constitutes a complex metabolic dysfunction, its morbidity at the moment it is a cause of concern for the public health, since it produces damages generalized in the fabrics. The decrease of the visual acuity is a complication recognized in the patients with diabetes mellitus. Many diabetic patients present secondary visual alterations to changes in their refractive state directly related with the glicemia levels. A 47 year-old feminine patient is presented with a diabetes mellitus debut, being the hypermetropia the ametropia that became evident to the beginning of the treatment of the diabetes mellitus and this ametropia is compensated with the patient's clinical improvement. The diabetic patients, as a principle, when the vision is blurred they despair and want to solve his/her problem immediately, without keeping in mind that not being compensated metabolically, it doesn't allow that its refractive state is the true one.REFERENCES
