ABSTRACT
Perioperative pregabalin administration reduces early postoperative pain at rest.
Gabapentin and pregabalin have antiallodynic antihyperanalgesic and useful
properties for the treatment of neuropathic pain and acute postoperative pain.
Objective: To evaluate the effectiveness of premedication with pregabalin and
gabapentin in the perioperative laparoscopic cholecystectomy.
Material and methods: A double-blind, randomized, prospective and comparative controlled
trial was performed in 35 patients under general anesthesia, randomly distributed
into 2 groups group I: oral pregabalin 150 mg, group II: oral gabapentin 300
mg preoperatively and postoperative. cardiovascular hemodynamic parameters,
spontaneous pain and hyperalgesia, side effects and treatment satisfaction
was evaluated.
Results: During awakening time, pregabalin group has an
average time of 1.89 minutes (p ‹ 0.002) and a heart rate of 61.39 beats per
minute (p ‹ 0.05) compared with group II, both groups had lower scores to 5
on the visual analog scale for their hospital stay.
Conclusions: Perioperative administration of pregabalin and gabapentin in laparoscopic cholecystectomy
is safe and effective in the parameters evaluated.
