ABSTRACT
Sick Building Syndrome is defined as a set of discomfort caused by poor ventilation, temperature decompensation, among other agents that occurs in at least 20 % of the occupants, a set of non-specific symptoms. Characteristically symptoms disappear when you leave the building. The methodology for the study of
sick building is divided into four phases: 1) initial investigation: collection of information about the building and its occupants; 2) measures inspection and guidance: timely implementation of corrective actions; 3) measures ventilation, climate indicators: full system scans ventilation of indoor air quality and other factors; and 4) medical examination and associated research. In this study, phase one was analyzed, concerning the symptoms caused by this disorder, through the questionnaire NTP 290
Sick Building Syndrome: Questionnaire for detection, which was held at the Hospital of Gynecology and Pediatrics (HGP/MF) Nº 31 of the Mexican Institute of Social Security (IMSS) in Mexicali, Baja California.
Objective: To know the symptoms caused by
Sick Building Syndrome in workers of the HGP/MF Nº 31 of the IMSS.
Material and method: Observational, descriptive, cross-sectional, single-center study. Statistical analysis: Descriptive statistics.
Results: It was observed that the symptoms questioned, workers in higher percentages than 20 % reported 6 of the 9 symptoms studied.
Conclusions: it must catalog the building studied as a carrier of
Sick Building Syndrome.
