ABSTRACT
This study aims to analyze the use of the structural model and the therapy focused on solutions in a therapeutic group of parents belonging to a program of academic support for children with problems of school failure. The proposal emerged as a need to give comprehensive attention to these children, on the basis of the systemic paradigm. For intervention groups of parents the consulting method was taken as base in Mathew Selekman solution. This proposal is grounded in the basic principles of the solution-oriented therapy. Participated eleven cases, with ages of 30 to 45 years. We used a semi-structured interview based on the Montalvo´s Survey Guide to Identify the Family Structure. The changes that were observed during the sessions were: (a) the change of view on the issue, from linear to circular b) fathers and mothers more receptive, c) establishing rules and clear consequences and d) talks around themes that are free of the problem.
