ABSTRACT
Up to 12 percent of the population will have a urinary stone during their lifetime. The classic presentation of a renal stone is acute, colicky flank pain is one of the most common causes of urologic emergencies. The treatment consist in pain control with analgesics and antispasmodics. When the diagnosis is confirmed we can choose a great variety of medical and surgical possibilities. We make an prospective, comparative, randomized study in patients with distal ureteral stone using deflazacort and nifedipine during ten days with the objective of facilitating the fast passage though the ureter comparing with another group managed with analgesics and antispasmodics. We conclude that the usage of such drugs lovers the frequency of pain recurrence and produces a faster stone expulsion.
