ABSTRACT
Objective: to identify the correlation between smoking and atypia cervix-vaginal cells.
Methods: it was performed an exfoliative cytology cervix-vaginal (pap) to 807 patients in the Laboratory of Cellular Biology of the Faculty of Medicine of the University Autonomous of Puebla between March of 2011 and March of 2016. It was also conducted gynecological interrogation and on the habit of smoking.
Results: of the 807 patients, 178 gave positive to smoking, some atypia cells were reported in the Cytology results. A reason of odds was made giving as result 1.9 and probability of 65% in smokers with atypia cell types liebg and lieag.
Conclusion: this drug addiction is a predisposing factor in the emergence of atypia cervix-vaginal cells, due to the large amount of toxic chemicals and carcinogens contained in cigarette.
