Towards medical bioethics: vocation or training?

ABSTRACT

At present and because of the many changes that arise both in the planet where we live, and the society in which we find ourselves, every day new needs that involve training of professionals who can provide solutions to the new problems arise, not only actively but also ethically, as in the case of importance has always been given to the moral quality of the Medicine Doctor, since he has to incorporate into his regular work scientific facts, and human values. This study aimed to determine the perception of College students on the ethical knowledge of the profession acquired during their training. To achieve this goal, it was attended by 65 students from the Iztacala Campus belonging to medical career, to whom were administered a questionnaire that addressed the issue of professional ethics; responses were analyzed, in order to identify the act values, practice their profession ethically and in order to serve society, and found that to them, their work means nothing if it is not useful to others.
