ABSTRACT
A case of a 4-month-old breastfed male baby diagnosed with infantile cortical hyperostosis or Caffey-Silverman disease is presented. Clinical manifestations were characterized by an increase in volume of right mandibular region and a decrease in appetite. Imaging tests showed a thickening of the muscle walls and the cortical bone in the affected area, and a hypoechogenic liver nodule was detected on abdominal ultrasound; as well as, a hypodense nodule with peripheral enhancement in suggestive ring of hepatic hemangioma on abdominal computed tomography scan. Treatment with steroids was indicated and a significant clinical and radiological recovery was obtained 12 days after the diagnosis, while focal liver lesion disappeared after 4 months.
