ABSTRACT
Cancer is a chronic disease that develops in multiple phases
and for an extended period of time and also demand the
sufferer of new patterns of adaptation. Psychological care for
people with cancer is necessary for the relief of suffering,
improve quality of life and update their adaptive resources.
However, few empirical studies that report and systematize
results on the effectiveness of psychosocial interventions in
people with medical diagnosis of cancer.
This paper analyzes the latest advances reported by the
scientific research on psychosocial interventions for cancer
patients and analysis of its effectiveness on the emotional
distress associated with the diagnosis and medical / clinical
treatment of this disease.
