ABSTRACT
Background: The journal Anales Médicos was born in 1955 and has been unceasingly published to date. It is an official organ of the ABC Medical Center. Aim: To provide the editorial committee of the journal with the necessary knowledge to support the design and implementation of hospital policies, as well as to help define strategies and courses of action to improve its results based on bibliometric indicators. Method: Descriptive and systematic bibliometric study of all kinds of papers published in the journal Anales Médicos. The use of bibliometric indicators aided to identify the productivity by author, a body of the most productive authors, productivity by period, the number of signatures per paper and the total of signatures in each period. Printed and electronic journals from 1955 to 2015 were taken as reference. For data analysis, Microsoft Excel 97-2003 was used. Results: 61 years, 2,077 authors, 2,033 articles and 4,817 signatories were scrutinized. Our body of the most productive authors includes 54 physicians (2.6%). Regarding the amount of signatories in each document; 881 articles (43.3%) were written by a single author. The most productive five-year period was from 2011 to 2015, both in the number of articles and the amount of signatories, having 259 articles (12.7%) and 887 authors (18.4%). Conclusion: The journal Anales Médicos has improved its bibliometric indicators over the last five years; we identified a body of the most productive authors and a group of doctors who share common interests.REFERENCES
