ABSTRACT
Introduction: today the concept of multiple organ dysfunction syndrome is reexamined to refer the multisystem involvement of the hypertensive disease typical of pregnancy, which is associated with increased morbidity and mortality, ranging from 30 to 100%, depending on the number of organs involved, which supports the pathophysiological theory of microcirculatory compromise. Objective: To describe the behavior and perioperative evolution and the evolution of a patient with cerebrovascular dysfunction as signs of worsening preeclampsia.
Clinical case: This is a patient with visual loss associated to preeclampsia with signs of worsening, suggestive of cerebrovascular dysfunction, which underwent urgent arciform segmental Caesarean section with orotracheal general anesthesia.
Conclusion: It is of vital importance for the attention of preeclampsia with signs of worsening to be considered a multiple organ dysfunction syndrome of variable severity and evolution, which guarantees the preoperative behavior oriented by a multidisciplinary team with focused treatment.
