Occupational accidents with luxation, sprain and strain in ankle and foot joints and ligaments in Jalisco state, Mexico, in 2012 and 2013

ABSTRACT

Analysis of luxation, sprain and sprain events on ankle and foot joints and ligaments as a result of occupational risks, in the state of Jalisco , Mexico , between 2012 and 2013, indicates that 10,953 and 10,522 events took place during these years. In order to evaluate the trends of these events in these years, occupational risk reports (ST-5) were reviewed at the Health Data Division from the Mexican Institute of Social Security. The review produced a total of 119,726 occupational risks. This total comprised 92,102 occupational accidents, 27,017 commuting accidents, 607 occupational diseases, and 228 deaths during these years. The majority of luxations, sprains and strains took place in 2012 with a total of 6,020 events. As to superficial leg injuries there were 2,758 in this year. And during this same year there were 2,175 superficial ankle and foot injuries.
