ABSTRACT
Pityriasis rubra pilaris (PRP) is an uncommon papulosquamous skin
disease which has an often chronic course. The aetiology of PRP has not been
definitely established. PRP is a dermatosis with marked clinical similarities
to psoriasis. Both share an increase epidermal proliferation and some
therapeutic aspects.
A 5-year-old girl is presented with the clinical and histological features of
acute PRP after an airway infection. She was treated with calcipotriol
ointment applied twice daily. Improvement was noted within fifteen days, and
almost complete clearing occurred after 2 months for therapy. No
side-effects were noted.
