ABSTRACT
The bacterium
Haemophilus paragallinarum is the etiological agent of infectious coryza, an upper respira-tory disease of poultry. The economic impact of the disease caused by this bacterium is considerable, particularly in multi-age farms. The bacteriologic characteristics of the etiological agent are described in a manner that allocates it within the Pasteurellaceae family, and also shows its realationship to other potentially pathogenic agents in poultry. Particular emphasis is made concerning the more recent knowl-edge regarding the antigenic structure and the serological classifi cation of H. paragallinarum.
