ABSTRACT
Background. The minimally invasive parathyroidectomy, guided by intraoperative measurement of parathyroid
hormone (PTH) is widely accepted in the treatment of sporadic primary hyperparathyroidism, it has already
demonstrated its feasibility, safety and efficacy with lower morbidity and surgical time compared to classical
bilateral neck exploration.
Objective. Show the experience in Hospital Ángeles Metropolitano.
Material and
methods. Observational, descriptive and retrospective study of medical records of patients diagnosed with sporadic
primary hyperparathyroidism, operated by minimally invasive where intraoperative PTH measurements was used.
Results. Thirteen patients, 8 women and 5 men. The mean preoperative PTH was 464.2, pg/mL, 15 min after
resection decreased by 83.06%, no patient had complications. With 100% cure.
Conclusion. Measurement
intraoperative of PTH is useful and safe, is a guided resection adjuvant functional parathyroid tissue to avoid major
surgery and high morbidity.
