Behavior of plasma donations in Primary Health Care

ABSTRACT
Introduction: plasma donations in Primary Health Care constitutes an altruist act for acquiring plasma with transfusion or prime material goals in therapeutic derivate.Objective: to characterize the behavior of plasma donations in Primary Health Care.
Methods: a descriptive, observational transversal study was carried out in the provincial Bank of Blood en Pinar del Río, from January to October 2015. The universe was formed by 3 832 plasma donations. The variables: age group, biological sex, health areas, quantity of donations, recollected and used plasma were analyzed.
Results: the male sex, and the 40 a 49 age group prevailed in plasma donations. As well as “Hermanos Cruz” Teaching Polyclinic with 32,3 % of bags of plasma. The highest quantity of donations and recollected plasma was in February with 421 donations and 252 600 mL of plasma. There was a highest use of units of plasma by the Pharmaceutical Industry with a 68,2 %.
Conclusions: plasma donations were characterized prevailing in males between 40 and 49 years old from “Hermanos Cruz” Teaching Polyclinic. February resulted the period of more plasma donations and recollection mainly used by the pharmacological industry. An adequate performance and use of plasma donations was evidenced by the health services which continues requiring the integral assistance and attention.
