Ménétrier disease

ABSTRACT

Menetrier's disease designates the coexistence of hypertrophy of the gastric mucosa, hypochlorhydria or hyperchlorhydria and serious hypoalbuminemia. The article aims to analyze the clinical, endoscopic, imaginological, anatomical, and pathological characteristics of a patient who was treated at "Hermanos Ameijeiras" Hospital from November 2014 to April 2015. Gastroenterologists, radiologists, hematologists, surgeons, pathologists, and members of Clinical Nutrition Service performed interdisciplinary evaluation and monitoring. After solving nutritional problems and severe anemia, total gastrectomy was finally performed with stenosis at the level of the esophagus-jejunal suture. We highlight the multidisciplinary and interdisciplinary treatment applied to this patient, which proved crucial in the successful outcomes.
