ABSTRACT
Nephrotic syndrome is a pathological condition in which losses of protein in urine, edema, hypoalbuminemia
and hyperlipidemia occur. Nutrition therapy is fundamental in the care of pediatric patients with kidney disease because
normal growth can be affected if feeding is inadequate. It is recommended that children with nephrotic syndrome consume
required amount of protein for their age, as well as other nutrients such as lipids and carbohydrates. Sodium and vitamin
D are micronutrients that must be also watched. More studies are suggestedabout the intake of various nutrients in the
diet of these children.
