ABSTRACT
Objective: Submit a series of clinical cases of the hand, foot and mouth disease in Mexican children.
Material and Methods: Series of clinic cases selected in a pediatric service, during summer-autumn 2014, in southern
Veracruz.
Results: We studied 19 clinical cases. Were 16 (79%) male. The ages of the children ranged from 6 to 48 months old. All
the children had ulcers in the oral mucosa and eruptions in palm of the hand and soles of the feet. Most of the children had
fever 18 (94.73%), hyporexia 17 (89.4%) and persistent crying 16 (84.2%). There were no complications, or hospitalizations.
Discussion: Hand, foot and mouth disease in children is a common illness that has been presented in outbreaks during
the past five years in the south Veracruz, Mexico.
