ABSTRACT
Aim: To describe the characteristics of the biopsies by fine needle aspiration performed in the HNN during the period from May 2011 to August 2015 and its correlation with the results of excisional biopsy. Methods: The research is a quantitative, descriptive and retrospective type, with the participation of two hundred and seventeen pediatric patients from the Hospital Nacional de Niños, the data was collected from the pathologist logbook, the database called E Power and bibliography. Results: 231 FNAB were performed mainly in the head and neck (184 cases), of 231 cases, 152 were benign, 41 were insufficient samples, 30 were malignant and 8 were suspect. The main benign diagnosis was reactive nonspecific lymphadenitis, and the main malignant diagnosis was lymphoma and follicular neoplasm. Conclusions: Biopsy by fine needle aspiration is useful in the diagnosis of benign and malignant lesions in different anatomical sites, in the pediatric population.REFERENCES
