ABSTRACT
Human body uses inspired
oxygen to sustain aerobic
metabolism. An appropriate
and accurate measurement of
this clinical parameter poses
one of the most useful tools in
the assessment and treatment
of a wide range of pathologies.
In the following review, we
shall discuss the concept and
physiological fundamentals
of oxygenation, and the most
commonly used methods to
measure it, according to which
many medical decisions are
taken.
