ABSTRACT
Endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography is the standard method for the evaluation of biliary pathologies. The clinical impress of the cholangioscopy with direct bile conducts visualization, tissue sampling, and technical maneuvers has shown few developments due to the lack of proper technological acquisition. The SpyGlass Direct Visualization System (Boston Scientific Corp., Natick, MA, USA), is designed for single operator examination and 4-way deflected steering, with separate dedicated irrigation channels, which enables it to overcome the preexistent limitations. The objective of this article is to report the case of a patient with a suggestive malignant intraluminal bile duct injury. The SpyGlass system was used in order to obtain an adequate tissue sample for a proper histopathological study, in which well-defined papillary adenocarcinoma was reported.
