ABSTRACT
Primary treatment for head and neck cancer are surgery, radiotherapy and chemotherapy. Trismus can occur as a preexistent problem or became a sequelae of the treatment. Trismus is the restriction of mouth opening as 35 mm. trismus has multiple implications in health and activities of diary living. It doesn´t exists evidence of how trismus must be prevented and limited, neither treatment protocols, but there are therapeutic techniques that can help to treat it. If trismus is severe or not respond to such techniques, surgery is recommended. It is necessary an adequate, integral and timely assessment by a multidisciplinary team of rehabilitation, to avoid comorbilities that compromise health and quality of life of the patient.
