ABSTRACT
Liver cysts are uncommon, most are asymptomatic and require no
treatment. Cysts that attain massive proportions often become symptomatic
and require definitive therapy but there is no agreement
regarding the best treatment. Total excision of the cyst has been
considered by many to be the treatment of choice, but this represents
a major endeavor with potentially significant morbidity and
mortality. More conservative procedures, like wide un-roofing, have
been used as definitive treatment, with fewer complications but the
possibility of recurrence.
