ABSTRACT
Introduction: the training process in teaching careers is a priority of the Ministry of Higher Education, so that the formation of a Biology-Chemistry rofessor does not escape the purpose. Shortcomings in the management of this process, which entails that graduates in this major do not have well-developed professional skills, with insufficiencies in their environmental education and in the care and conservation of biological diversity. Objective: to provide an alternative methodology to enhance the learning process of the Biology-Chemistry Professor, mainly from the teaching and learning of biological disciplines and field practice that emphasizes environmental education and conservation of biological diversity.
Method: The methodology responds to a dialectical conception, which is based on the dialectical-materialist method. It relies on a system of methods of theoretical and empirical levels.
Results: a systematization of theoretical and practical aspects of the project method and problem-solving teaching is performed, depending on the process of teaching and learning of the subjects of biological disciplines and the field practice in initial education of a Biology-Chemistry teacher, focusing on environmental education and care of biodiversity.
Conclusions: environmental training is a process which is an inseparable part of the comprehensive professional training in Cuban universities, so finding resources for its improvement is needed to bring the students to a higher level of motivation to search knowledge for their professional performance.
