ABSTRACT
Introduction: the teaching of medical microbiology and parasitology plays a key role in medicine major where the information and communication technologies could introduce new ways to materialize the process. E-learning or computer-mediated learning allows teaching the contents of medicine studies using the available technological infrastructure.Objective: to describe a problem-solving strategy rose from the implementation of a workstation to visualize the sample of microorganisms using e-learning laboratory system.
Method: applicative research with technological intervention that implements a client-server architecture where users can access through the network and sharing the resources to visualize the available samples. It also enables capturing an image or a sequence of images to be observed for their further study.
Results: the screens of the system facilitate the capture of images during its functioning, as part of the results obtained with the development of this project. Graphical interface of the desktop application can be observed when it is connected to the device that captures images from the microscope.
Conclusions: a tool to expand the technological availability was obtained, along with the access to laboratory samples of rare manifestations and the exchange of opinions with the most qualified people in the field of microbiology and parasitology. Students show a high level of satisfaction with the application of computer-mediated laboratory system during their medical professional training.
