ABSTRACT

Gastric cancer has proven to be a public health problem, in Costa Rica. According to public health records from 2012, gastric cancer was fifth and third in incidence for women and men respectively, and second for both men and women in terms of mortality as of 2014. Worldwide experts have different approaches for the disease without any consensus, especially between western and eastern modalities, for treatment and adjuvant therapy. We conducted a search on all mayor medical publications for the different approaches and innovations on the field for the last 5 years to extract the fundamentals of this fast paced constantly changing field to give the reader a notion of options and perspective of the actuality of gastric cancer.
