Introduction: the term hydatidosis is used to describe the zoonosis caused by hydatid cysts, cystic metacestode larvae belonging to the genus Echinococcus that parasitizes the intestine of the dog.Case: a case is presented with pulmonary hydatid disease in a patient treated at Patacamaya hospital, La Paz Bolivia; respiratory symptoms such as: chest pain, dyspnea and malaise, worsening the overall condition of the patient which marked the onset of the disease. Chest X-ray showed tumor-like images in both vertices. The patient underwent antiparasitic and surgical treatments; solving this way the clinical presentation of this disease.
Conclusions: the pulmonary hydatid disease occurs in 10% of the cases and it is prevalent in temperate climates and cattle raising areas such as the Bolivian altiplano.
