ABSTRACT
Eradication of Helicobacter pylori infection has been variably associated with a platelet response in patients with immune thrombocytopenic purpura. Several theories have been proposed to explain facthe platelet response to anti-Helicobacter pylori therapy, including molecular mimicry, platelet aggregation and the induction of a Th1 phenotype that favors the onset and/or persistence of immune thrombocytopenic purpura. There are many studies from different countries about the prevalence and effectiveness of the platelet response when the eradication of H. pylori was complete. At some countries, like Japan, Italy and Colombia, there has been good responses. This could be because of a positive specific strain of H. pylori, it could also be because of the patients’ age and their immune system. In conclusion, due to the low costs of the methods of H. pylori detection and treatment, its diagnosis in patients with immune thrombocytopenic purpura should be routinely.REFERENCES
