ABSTRACT
In the Intensive Medicine the special concern is to estimate the impact of different diseases in regards to the physiological reserves of the sick people to stratify these patients with risk categories. With this purpose there are used different predictive models in the intensive care units (ICUs), with a wide range of purposes. For that reason it was performed a review of the general prognosis indexes for the evaluation of critically ill patients in the intensive care units with the objective to describe its emergence, composition, efficiency and the main clinical applications.
