Clinic epidemiologic behavior of oral injuries in HIV / AIDS patients. Artemisa. January-April 2015

ABSTRACT
Objective: To characterize the clinical epidemic behavior of the oral injuries in the patients with diagnostic
confirmed serologic of HIV / AIDS, to determine the prevalence of oral injuries in the studied population. To
characterize the study population according to sex, age, time of diagnosis, existent and type of oral injuries.
Method: An observational descriptive study of transverse court was conducted with patients diagnosed with
HIV / AIDS that went to their monitoring consultation of the "Tomás Romay" polyclinic, Artemisa in the period
of January-April of 2015, the universe of 69 patients with confirmed diagnosis of HIV / AIDS, was taken
and a sample of 25 patients that completed the inclusion criterion. They were carried out an exhaustive
interrogation and clinical oral exam, previous informed consent.
Results: Of the total of studied patients, 64% presented some oral injury; 72% of the sample was male and
the age group from 26 to 35 years; the oral predominant injuries were the oral candidiasis (24.0%) followed
by the gingival lineal erythema (12.0%) being located the biggest number of patient with these lesions (16%),
in the group of more than 5 years of diagnosis.
Conclusions: There was a high prevalence of oral injuries in the population study object, with prevalence of
male, in the age group from 26 to 35 years, being the oral candidiasis and the gingival lineal erythema, the
two more frequently injuries found in the sample.
