Spasticity as neurologic sequel

ABSTRACT

Cerebrovascular Disease represents the third cause of death in developed and in developing countries, and its sequelae behave as the first cause of discapacity in adults. Spasticity, as a component of the motor deficit in the sick person, constitutes one more sequel, sometimes invalidating and indispensable to achieve the patient´s partial recovery. A revision is made on the concepts of spasticity, principal clinic characteristics, physiopathologic commentaries and present modalities for treatment.
