Formation experience in the basic abilities of social interacting at the Latin American School of Medicine (LASM)

ABSTRACT
Objective: To propose a training program n the basic abilities of social interacting for Spanish-speaking students at LASM, according to their needs and intercultural approaches, and sustained on the methodological principles of developmental teaching.Method: A study based or a mixed approach was done at different stages. The first one included an analytic descriptive tope non experimental design which privileged. The quantitative methodology when determining the level of development of the basic abilities on social interacting the Spanish-speaking students ate LASM have, based on the statistic analysis of the information obtained and its interpretation in correspondence with the theoretical basic assumed. The second stage used the investigation-action resources which, as a methodological strategy, permitted the construction, transformation and perfection of the system of actions that conformed the proposal of training on the basic abilities of social interaction.
Results: The results of the initial diagnosis showed a low level in the development of the basic abilities of social interaction among students, being the most affected ones the ability of listening and the beginning, maintenance and reading of conversations. After being trained, we could verify a rising in the level of the development of abilities.
Conclusions: The conceiving and structuring of the components of the program, permit to reinforce the strongholds and to surpass the weaknesses identified in the students thorough the consolidation, reinforcement and development of the basic abilities of social interaction.
