ABSTRACT
Objective: to analyze the effects of the practice of apitherapy with the use of apitoxine associated to therapeutic ultrasound (TUS) through the phonophoresis.
Method: an analysis was done on the physiological muscular effect of the active principle (apitoxim) induced by
transdermic via and the variations on the corporal mass in four groups of albinic Winstar rats, distributed as follow:
G1 with continuous TUS (control), G2 with pulsed TUS (control), G3 with continuous TUS and apitoxine, and G4
with pulsed TUS and apitoxine. During consecutive fifteen days, we did daily appliances with the combination
of apitoxine and carbopol, a gel used in this technique. After those days, the rats were sacrificed to check the
effects presented. The gastronemic muscle was put out, stuffed and submitted to clinical testing. After the statistic
analysis, variations among the groups were observed regarding to the four parameters studied.
Results: the gastronemic muscle was put out, stuffed and was mechanically tested. After the statistic analysis
we observed variations among the groups regarding to the parameters studied: deformation was at the maximum
limit; rigidity, tenacity and force also at the maximum limit. Variation was greater for G4 when compared to the
rest of the groups, specially to G2, emphasizing the variable force at the maximum limit, which in G4 presented
variation between 46,00 ± 2,51 when compared to G2 where there were observed variations between 25,83 ± 3,68. In the analysis of body mass, G3 showed a significant reduction related to the rest of the groups.
Conclusions: the effects produced by apitherapy, with the use of apitoxine associates to therapeutic ultrasound
through phonophoresis, shows that it is an effective alternative for the penetration of the substance and the
obtainancs of betterment in respect of the mechanical properties of the skeletal musculature in Wistar Rats.
