ABSTRACT
The incidence of abnormalities
of the optic nerve is on the
rise, especially optic nerve
hypoplasia. It is important
to know the wide range of
abnormalities as they can
impair the vision of a child.
Abnormalities such as optic
nerve hypoplasia, morning
glory anomaly, and coloboma
may be associated with systemic
disorders that could get to
harm a child’s life. Currently
there is no cure for the optic
nerve anomalies, hence early
identification is crucial to
intervene and prevent possible
consequences.
