ABSTRACT
The occipital epilepsy of Gastaut can be difficult to distinguish from migraine with visual aura. His long-term prognosis is uncertain, partly due to the overlap with other entities. The persistence of crises beyond adolescence and the development of learning disabilities and other cognitive disorders have raised doubts about its proclaimed benignity. Male patient 13-year-old began his clinical picture 5 years ago with intense, diffuse headache of vascular characteristics difficult to control, the starting year of the clinical picture begins in every crisis with gaze deviation on the right. Imaging reveals no abnormal data in both axial tomography skull and magnetic resonance. The electroencephalogram shows the presence of occipital spikes, corroborating a focused epilepsy occipital region. For the clinical and electroencephalogram findings focused Epilepsy with occipital spikes Gastaut variant is diagnosed. Treatment was initiated with valproate improving their clinical picture.REFERENCES
